I thought the ability to “own” that money, or even see it accrue in value. That specific type of value generation is being attributed to the fat protocol layer. 

By contrast value generation by making a good game, belongs to the thin application layer. That’s Web 2.0  value generation. 

I don’t think in any case it’s a user buying the protocol or the “how”. I’m simply saying, the protocol layer enables a new “why”

In this context they care about gameplay => money.  Not that it’s any particular protocol or the detailed mechanics

I thought you were expressing the view that end users didn’t care about tokenisation. But I think end users in developing countries would (in GameFi)

won’t adopt due to hype (that they’re likely not even aware of).

So the point is that most won’t buy into the hype? Only those with an investment mindset would consider the hype aspect, but most users just care about the “ends”
